Kim’s work shows a devotion to the inherent character of the materials she works with, allowing the stone to express its own qualities. The key aspect of her work is sensuality, and Kim wants viewers to touch and hold the work within themselves almost as fetish objects. The work transfers from the making to the viewer’s experience in a deeply personal way. The stone sculptures for on form have evolved through a meditative and contemplative journey, the destination and outcome often surprising and unplanned.
Kim Francis first trained as a jeweller at Central St Martins, London. Her work evolved from body adornment to sculptural forms as she learnt metalwork and modelling skills through working in bronze casting foundries in the UK and USA. Kim lives and works in the Cotswolds.
