Guest Event – ‘Palette Knife Woodlands’ with Kieran Stiles
6th December - 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Explore how the impressionists describe shadows with blues, violets and magentas and the influence of this on contemporary painter Andrew Gifford.
Working on hardboard primed with a soft-pink ground, learn how to build up an intricate textural surface with a small palette knife. Not every part of the substrate is covered with paint, leaving tiny ‘negative spaces’ of exposed pink board, which results in exciting colour interactions.
Working indoors in the warm Ballroom at Asthall Manor. You will need to bring photographs of woodlands, and some A4 paper for notes and preparatory sketches.
This workshop is £85 and payable in advance. Non-refundable or transferable after 5 days before the event date. Please contact Kieran to book, click here.
