Dawn Chorus

Peter Cowdrey, who led walks around the Asthall grounds in 2018 and during our birdsong weekend in 2019, will be back with more insight into the secret meanings and musicality of birdsong. Join the dawn chorus walk on 3rd July at 4 am. Kieran Stiles Art Workshop – Sketchbook Studies 2

We have added a new date to this series of workshops at on form this summer. Working outside with a sketchbook is like a visual diary and a great way of capturing a brief moment. This workshop focuses on painting the undergrowth and the sculptures too. Learn how to mix together watercolour, graphite and wax, to gouache, oil bar and pens, in an immediate and energized way, using sponges, rags and palette knifes. All materials provided, except paper. Kieran Stiles Art Workshop – Acrylic Woodlands

Explore ways of describing peripheral vision by overlapping washes of acrylic on canvas to create an almost completely abstract start point.  Once this non-pictorial part of the painting is dry, the focal point of tree forms can be introduced.
