Friday Art Workshop: Mindful Drawing with Anna Black

Jul 08, 2016 | 10:00 | 10 - 4pm | Asthall Manor

Mindful Drawing is a form of practice where we apply the principles of mindfulness, paying attention with kindly awareness and without judging, to mark making. We draw what we see as we see it. We also explore our experience with all our senses, not just our eyes. So through touching and other sensory explorations we explore our subject in many different ways. We will not be learning how to draw but rather how to pay attention and let go of pre-conceived ideas.

Mindful Drawing is an exploration of drawing as meditation but there will also be short periods of guided meditation, no prior meditation or drawing experience is needed.

Please bring a hardback sketchbook (A4 size). Other materials including pencils will be available to use on the day.

Maximum of 12, booking essential, £70

Fee includes early entry to the exhibition before the general public at 12 noon, fully illustrated colour catalogue, coffee and tea. It does not include lunch, you are welcome to bring a picnic or enjoy lunch at the Potting Shed Cafe.
