Nicolas Moreton
Nicolas Moreton was born in 1961 in Hertfordshire. He has been working as a sculptor since 1985.
From 2004-2006, he undertook a two-year national tour of four English cathedrals: Southwell Minster, Gloucester, Lincoln and Manchester.
In 2006 Nicolas Moreton won the Brian Mercer award for sculpture, which enabled him to work at Studio Sem in Pietrasanta, Italy, for three months.
This is the first time Nicolas has shown at on form.
“Nicolas Moreton is a modern master of the medium of stone-carving but with a strong sense of tradition. His work somehow suggests the primordial power of the stuff with which he wrestles so deftly but has much of the subtlety of the great but anonymous stone-masons of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries where one material seems transformed into another before our eyes.”
